Berrima is the home of jam (“jelly” to my American friends) in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. We haven’t been there for years, and it almost feels like it’s a town that has been frozen in time.
Not much has changed. 2 jam shops, a bakery, some cafes and a few other stores.
We’re glad it hasn’t been totally commercialised into the “cookie cutter” chain stores, but we fear that it’s not far off (the problem is these days, a lot of people aren’t interested in the handcrafted stuff- because it costs more).
If you’re visiting, be sure to try the scones or banofi pie at Magpie Cafe (it’s next to the pub). Just be aware that it ain’t the cheapest place in the world.
